During the 2008/09 football season, I was offered the chance to become a ‘fan blogger’ for the official Scunthorpe United website. The following season I was asked to become a contributer towards the club’s matchday magazine, an opportunity I hastily accepted.
During the season, I conducted interviews with first team players, and wrote them up for the programme. In the 2009/10 season, the magazine (entitled The Iron) was voted the best in the football league, beating off competition from all other 71 clubs in The Championship, League One and League Two.
I have continued this season (2010/11) in the role of contributer, and am now responsible for the main player interview in each edition of the magazine. The interview is now in the middle of the programme and covers a four page spread.
